Το έργο υποδηλώνει τον ακραίο παραλογισμό των απανταχού κοινωνικών πειραμάτων. Το τείχος δεν αποτελεί απλά ένα σύμβολο ή ένα όριο, αλλά είναι αναπόσπαστο μέρος αυτού του πειραματισμού. Αποτελεί συνειρμική προέκταση μιας διχοτόμησης σε μεγαλύτερη κλίμακα, όπως εκείνη της εστίας (της πατρίδας ή της μητρικής γλώσσας, οι οποίες παραμένουν εννοιολογικές προεκτάσεις της εστίας).

Το τείχος, παρά το γεγονός ότι φαινομενικά υψώνεται και διαχωρίζει, δεν κατορθώνει να απομονώσει τα δύο μέρη.

Οι ήχοι, οι μυρωδιές, οι φήμες, οι ιδέες, ξεπερνούν το τείχος. Δεν είναι απαραίτητο κάποιος να αφουγκραστεί, όπως αντίστοιχα δεν οφείλει κάποιος να σωπαίνει, διότι η ησυχία σε αυτές τις περιπτώσεις δύναται να είναι εκκωφαντική.

Το έργο συνιστά ένα σχόλιο πάνω στις έννοιες της διαφοράς, του διχασμού αλλά και του εσωτερικού κενού και συγκυριακά δημιουργείται σε μια εποχή που ξανά ορθώνονται παντού τείχη, συμβολικά και πραγματικά. Μια εποχή διχαστική.

Στο Force majeure ο ιστορικός προσδιορισμός της εποχής με την χρήση ηχητικών ντοκουμέντων σε συνδυασμό με την σχεδόν σουρεαλιστική συνθήκη που υπαινίσσεται το έργο, είναι επίσης ένας στοχασμός πάνω στα όρια της αναπαράστασης, της “γλώσσας” της ιστορίας και του κοινωνικού χαρακτήρα της τέχνης. Το γεγονός έχει οριστικά τελειώσει, κλείσει, η ιστορία έχει αποφανθεί (από την πλευρά πάντα του νικητή – αν υπήρξε νικητής). Κανένα πια δίλημμα αναφορικά με μια εποχή διλημμάτων. Ένα κενό που δεν σταματά να μεγαλώνει.

Θα μπορούσε να είναι το μπλούζ των ανθρώπων οι οποίοι είχαν ζήσει και είχαν πιστέψει ότι κάπου υπήρχε μια δύναμη η οποία εγγυόταν την ευτυχή έκβαση των προσπαθειών τους, των στερήσεων τους, κάτι που έμεινε μετέωρο μεταξύ του μύθου της αναγκαιότητας της ιστορίας και της λογικής πιθανότητας ενός περάσματος, του ανοίγματος ενός νέου κεφαλαίου της Ιστορίας. Θα μπορούσε να είναι το μπλούζ των ανθρώπων όπου η ζωή τους (η ζωή μας) υπήρξε (γίνεται) το πεδίο πρακτικής ασκήσεως κοινωνικών (κοινωνικοοικονομικών) πειραματισμών.

Σε αντίθεση με κάθε βεβαιότητα η ιστορία μπορεί να αποδειχθεί απρόβλεπτη, πολλές φορές ακατανόητη.

This project suggests the extreme absurdity of world’s social experiments. The wall does not only represent a symbol or a border line but constitutes an integral part of these experiments. It is an associative extension of a division of larger scale, such as the division of focus (e.g. of home, of mother language which remain semantic extensions of focus). The wall that we propose, despite the fact that appears to peak high and divide, it doesn’t achieve to isolate the two parts. The sounds, the smells, the ideas surpass the wall. It is not necessary for someone to concentrate at it, in the same way that someone is not obliged to hush, as silence under these circumstances may be deafening. This project represents a comment on the notions of disparity, division and even of inner void.
Tο έργο “Force majeure” αποτελείται από ένα καναπέ που κόβεται εγκάρσια από ένα τοίχο μήκους 4-5 μέτρων, ύψους 3 μέτρων και πάχους 20 εκατοστών. Η επικάλυψη του τοίχου είναι από τσιμέντο, το οποίο αφήνεται εμφανές ώστε η υφή του να παραμένει αδρή και εμφανώς ακατέργαστη. Μέσα στον τοίχο υπάρχουν εγκατεστημένα ηχεία από τα οποία ακούγονται πραγματικά αποσπάσματα από ντοκουμέντα της περιόδου του Ψυχρού πολέμου στην Γερμανία.
The work “Force majeure” consists of a sofa cut transversely from a wall 4-5 meters long, 3 meters high and 20 cm thick. The wall is coated with cement, which is left exposed so that its texture remains visibly rough. Inside the wall are installed speakers from which actual excerpts from documents of the Cold War period in Germany can be heard.

Zoi Pirini is an artist who lives and works in Athens and Loutraki, Greece.
She is a graduate of the Athens School of Fine Arts (Athens 2003).
From 2003 to 2013, she has been working with the concept of Lighting design (visual and architectural), having carried out studies and projects in Greece and abroad. In 2011 she founded Lab2Art, an art school  which she runs until today. She is a member of the artistic group ”For Cancel”, founder of Festivart and co-founder of the artistic | research platform “TILT platform”. In 2020 she designs the educational platform “futureboards” which will be implemented in 2021 with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Education of Greece.
She is a member of the Greek Chamber of Fine Arts.

Zoi, uses a variety of expressive media, such as painting, photography, video, sculpture, etc. while processing her works.
